  The Junta of Andalucia reformed the legislation for categorisation of tourist accommodation in the Royal Decree of 2004. The Hostel Atenas formerly belonged to the category of "Pension" because the term hostel did not exist.

  When the new legislation came into effect, this establishment decided to classify itself as a two-star "Hostal", althoughwe had to carry out many structural changes to our house to achieve this category.
